March 2014 – Apps4ghent – results

On saturday 22th of March Sensolus engaged in the popular Apps4Ghent event. We provided sensors, live datastreams and API’s. Different teams integrated Sensolus datastreams in their application and the winning team of Dries De Roeck, Bo Smet and Michiel Van Laeken invented an application for bike sharing and optimized routing in the City (PopBike), using a smart wheel with one of our sensors.

Sensolus also offered a specific reward to the same PopBike team for the most creative use of sensordata. Special thanks to Johan en Koen from the Sensolus team to revert the existing door sensor into a functioning wheel sensor, including the application, in less than 1 hour.

Apps4Ghent proved to be an interesting and creative event, even in a hackathon-saturated period like the current one, mainly thanks to e-strategist Bart Rosseau who dares to look further then the mainstream open data city strategies.
