WEBINAR State of the platform REWATCH HERE
Smart trackers locate assets, from a small box to a giant container, both indoor and outdoor. They are easy to install on the asset, low-cost and send their location to the platform.
Battery powered smart trackers don’t need any wires for power and have a battery that can last 5-10 years, depending on your use case.
You can configure how many times you want it to send location updates to the platform. The location accuracy (from 1 meter to 1.000 meter) depends on the technology you chose, we will advise you on this with best practices.
Main decision criteria to choose the tracker that fits your needs are the size of the tracker, geographical coverage and indoor versus outdoor coverage
Wired trackers can be wired to an external power source, typically the battery of a vehicle, but can also have a back-up battery (this makes our wired trackers unique because it guarantees the wired tracker will always work).
Location tags provide location updates.
Location tags need a smart gateway that scan for nearby location tags. The smart gateway will send the received data of the location tags to the platform because a location tag can never send data to the platform by itself.
The main difference between the TAG 2001 and the TAG 2002 is their size and mounting on the asset.
Condition sensors provide information about temperature, humidity, charging detection, load detection, fill level and open/closed status of your assets.
Condition sensors can only be connected to one smart gateway (compared to location tags that are scanned by multiple smart gateways). This smart gateway will send the received data of the condition sensors to the platform because a condition sensor can never send data to the platform by itself.
Smart gateways scan for nearby smart trackers, nearby location tags and specific condition sensors and send their data to the platform.
They can be installed on a fixed location or move around, for example within a vehicle.
A geobeacon is used to locate indoor smart trackers, but can’t send any data to the platform by itself.
The geobeacon knows its own location and sends his location to a nearby smart tracker. This enables the smart tracker to locate itself when it’s indoor. The smart tracker send the location to the platform.
