Key takeaways

- Installing a Sensolus tracker takes three steps: stick it on, activate it with a magnet, and check it's online.

- Activation is a five-second job. Hold a magnet next to the LED on the logo until it starts blinking.

- Double-sided tape works for quick, damage-free installs. Rivets or bolts are the choice for outdoor assets and anything that shakes or vibrates.

- Your tracker shows up online in the platform within about five minutes, ready to follow your asset.

- The exact specs, drilling templates and recommended glue types all live in the documentation center whenever you want the details.

Nobody buys a tracker to drill holes

Nobody buys an asset tracker because they love drilling holes. You buy one because you want to stop wondering where your containers, trailers, and tools have wandered off to. The good news? Getting there takes minutes, not hours.

Watch it happen in the video below, then follow along.

Three steps and you're tracking

1. Stick it on

Pick the mounting method that fits your asset. Double-sided tape for a quick, damage-free fix. Rivets or bolts when it needs to survive the outdoors, vibrations, and years of hard use. No tape, no tools, no drama for the easy cases.

2. Wake it up

Hold a magnet on top of the logo for about five seconds, right next to the LED, until it starts blinking. That blink means your tracker is waking up and talking to the platform. Done.

3. Check it’s live

Open the Sensolus platform. Within five minutes, your tracker shows up online, right where you left it. That’s your digital twin, up and running.

A few tips for a happy tracker

  • Give it a clear view of the sky. Mount it as high as possible, logo facing up. Metal and carbon-fibre walls block the signal, so keep them out of the way.
  • Mount it upright. Vertical is best, sideways is fine. Just never upside down, and never somewhere that collects water.
  • Link it to the right asset. Open the Sensolus mobile app, scan the tracker's QR code, and add the asset's identifier. That keeps the record of which tracker sits on which asset right inside the platform, no separate spreadsheet needed.

When to reach for rivets or bolts

Tape is perfect for a fast, reversible install. However, for outdoor assets or anything that shakes and rattles, mechanical mounting keeps the tracker where it belongs. Use rivets or bolts, add thread-locking glue so nothing works itself loose, and protect the casing with a washer.

All the exact specs, the drilling templates, and the recommended glue types live in our documentation center if you want the details.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know the tracker is activated? Hold a magnet next to the LED on the logo for about five seconds, until it starts blinking. Within five minutes it appears online in the platform.

Do I need special tools? For tape, no tools at all. For rivets or bolts, you’ll need standard mounting tools; the documentation center lists the right sizes per tracker.

Can I remove a tracker later? Yes. Tape and bolts are removable. Glue is very strong and hard to reverse, so choose it only when you’re sure the tracker stays in place.

Where do I mount it for the best signal? As high as possible, logo facing up, with a clear view of the sky and away from metal or carbon-fibre walls.
