Track & Talk (Season2: E1)

Sleep like a baby thanks to IoT: Security at every level

In this episode of Track & Talk, Pieterjan sits down with Steven, VP of Engineering at Sensolus, to explore one of the biggest challenges in IoT today: security.

From production to platform, Sensolus believes that IoT security isn’t something you add later, it’s something you build in from the start.

The goal? To make sure every customer can trust their data is safe, every step of the way.

1

Security starts in the factory, not in the settings

Every Sensolus tracker receives a unique identity and encrypted key during production — before it ever reaches a customer. Because Sensolus designs, produces, and manages everything in-house in Europe, the entire chain is controlled end-to-end: from hardware sourcing to cloud communication. The result is a solution that's secure by default, not by configuration.

2

Trust is built on governance, not promises

Security doesn't stop at the device. Through single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access control, only the right people get the right permissions. External penetration tests and regular audits verify the system's integrity, while detailed activity logs trace who did what and when. And crucially, customers always own their data — Sensolus only accesses it with explicit permission.

3

AI as insight engine, never as data risk

AI opens new doors for analyzing IoT data, but Sensolus draws clear lines. AI is used to interpret and summarize data — never to store or train on customer information. Only authorized data is processed, and clients can opt out entirely. The approach ensures AI becomes a tool for smarter decisions, not a threat to the trust that makes IoT adoption possible.

Jump to specific topic

At Sensolus, security begins long before a tracker reaches the customer. Each device is given a unique identity and encrypted key right in the factory, ensuring data protection from day one.
Because Sensolus designs, produces, and manages everything in-house (in Europe), we have full control over the entire chain, from hardware sourcing to cloud communication. The result from this is a solution that’s secure by default, not by configuration.

Security doesn’t end at production, it continues in the platform. Through single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access, Sensolus makes sure only the right people have the right permissions.
External penetration tests and regular audits verify the system’s integrity, while detailed activity logs make it easy to trace who did what and when. And crucially, customers always own their data, Sensolus only accesses it with permission for troubleshooting.

AI brings new opportunities for analyzing IoT data, but it also brings new risks. Sensolus uses AI to interpret and summarize data, never to store or train on customer information.
Only authorized data is processed, and clients can opt out entirely. By combining automation with strict privacy boundaries, Sensolus ensures that AI becomes a tool for smarter insights, not a threat to security.

Security in IoT isn’t an afterthought, it’s a mindset and foundation.
From design to data to AI, Sensolus builds protection into every step, helping businesses track their assets confidently and—yes—sleep like a baby knowing their information is safe.
